JoBlo’s own Chris Bumbray had the chance to watch the comedy Friendship at the Toronto International Film Festival last year – and he loved it, giving it an 8/10 review that you can read at This Link. Babygirl is climbing a major chart as it nears one full month in theaters. The A24 movie, which was written and directed by Halina Reijn, stars Nicole Kidman as Romy Mathis, a CEO who begins an illicit affair with her intern Samuel (Harris Dickinson) which allows her to explore her repressed sexual desires. The Babygirl release kicked off on Christmas Day and, while it was the third highest-grossing new release of the day behind Nosferatu and A Complete Unknown, it has quickly earned back its $20 million budget in theaters.

Per The Numbers, Babygirl has reached a worldwide gross of $29.3 million as of Friday, January 17. This sees it climbing the chart of the highest-grossing A24 movies of all time, surpassing 2017's The Disaster Artist ($28.72 million) to become the nineteenth best-performing release by the independent studio and distributor. It's easy to be excited by a thriller, especially an erotic one. The genre is designed to elicit that response in us. But with Babygirl, writer-director Halina Reijn has delivered an erotic thriller so confident and so fully formed that it also left me excited for it. I can't wait to see this movie released in the world. It feels calibrated exactly right to its time.

The Babygirl release will follow a typical route from theaters to digital to streaming. The 2024 erotic thriller was written and directed by Halina Reijn (Bodies Bodies Bodies) and features an ensemble cast that includes Oscar winner Nicole Kidman, Oscar nominee Antonio Banderas, two-time BAFTA nominee Harris Dickinson, and rising star Sophie Wilde.

Early Babygirl reviews, many of which came out of its premiere at the Venice International Film Festival in August, have earned the movie a solidly Fresh score of 89% on the review aggregator web site Rotten Tomatoes. While it has not yet been officially Certified Fresh on the platform, it seems highly likely to earn that honor as more reviews are added, even though that could also cause its score to fluctuate somewhat. Because it is a buzzy awards season release, it will eventually be available to screen in a variety of venues.

Jonathan Coulton may not be the original artist behind "Baby Got Back," but he does have a rather distinctive version of the song out there. And now it looks like "Glee" may have used that version without permission.

Is this stealing? Is it legal but morally reprehensible? Or is "Glee" entirely in the right? A look at the case may help you decide.

The music/Internet fiasco began on Friday (Jan. 18) when Coulton -- an independent singer with a devoted Twitter following (almost 100,000 of them as of this writing) -- tweeted that a "Glee" recording sounded a whole lot like his own cover of the Sir Mix-a-Lot anthem: 

"Hey look, @GleeonFOX ripped off my cover of Baby Got Back... Never even contacted me. Classy."

Twitter furor rose yet again when Coulton posted a follow-up to his first tweet:
