Brian Benedict Badie (Hair Designer/Department Head Hairstylist/Producer), one of today's most innovative celebrity hair stylists, is a driving force in blockbuster films and critically acclaimed television series. Badie has always considered himself an artist in every realm - music, art, fashion and dance.
Badie, who was born and raised in New Orleans, began his career when his hair designs caught the eye of legendary hair stylist Robert Louis Stevenson, and before long Badie earned his first position in the film industry as key hair stylist on the feature film Eve's Bayou, directed by Kasi Lemmons. Under Stevenson's mentorship, Badie's career flourished on such projects as Having Our Say, starring Diahann Carroll, Ruby Dee and Amy Madigan; the period piece A Lesson Before Dying with Don Cheadle, Cicely Tyson and Mekhi Phifer; and the crime drama, The Corner, starring T.K. Carter and Khandi Alexander.
Badie's television credits include the true crime drama The Good Nurse, starring Jessica Chastain, Eddie Redmayne and Ajay Naidu and HBO's Lovecraft Country, starring Jonathan Majors, the late Michael Kenneth Williams, Jurnee Smollett, Aunjanue Ellis and Courtney B. Vance. Badie also worked on NBC's Law and Order: SVU for seven seasons, Starz's hit show Power for three seasons; WGN's record-breaking, compelling series Underground; and Apple TV+'s The Changeling, an adaptation of Victor LaValle's book of the same name, starring LaKeith Stanfield, Clark Backo and Adina Porter. His career path also took him to New Zealand where he served as a hair supervisor for the HBO TV series Our Flag Means Death
Following the success of Power, Badie expanded his expertise in the film industry when he became a producer on the popular spin-off series Power Book ll: Ghost and Power Book IV: Force. In addition to his role as a producer, he also designed the iconic looks for both shows.
In 2019, Badie received an Emmy nomination for his work on the third season of HBO's True Detective, starring Mahershala Ali, Carmen Ejogo and Stephen Dorff.
