This afternoon, he tells his wife he's leaving for a meeting to discuss his upcoming film. This turns out to be a lie, and instead he goes to see the young and troubled Esperanza in a motel room. Unknown to Esperanza, her deaf brother, Johnny, breaks into the director's house pleading with Shannon to help stop the abuse of his teenage sister. Shannon says she will not intervene in his affair.
