The highly anticipated film adaptation of Colleen Hoover’s “It Ends With Us” is now streaming on Netflix after first hitting theaters this summer, and it’s got a star-studded cast.

After initial announcements of Blake Lively playing the 23-year-old Lily Bloom, fans of the book weren’t convinced that Justin Baldoni’s adaptation would live up to the hype. Baldoni, who plays Lily’s love interest, Ryle, also directed and produced the film with his production company Wayfarer.

Both Hoover and Baldoni publicly stated that it was a joint decision to age up the characters, and one they hoped would make the story of domestic violence more universally accessible to a greater range of women.

It Ends With Us will soon land on Netflix after generating controversy earlier this year. Based on the 2016 novel of the same name by Colleen Hoover, the romantic comedy movie hit theaters earlier this year, starring Blake Lively as a woman who finds herself faced with difficult choices after her first love re-enters her life. The film, which was directed by Justin Baldoni, who also stars opposite Lively, was mired in controversy before and after its release due to reports of friction behind-the-scenes between Lively and Baldoni.

Netflix has announced that “It Ends With Us,” the Colleen Hoover movie adaptation starring Blake Lively, will begin streaming on Netflix in the U.S. on Dec. 9. The film had its theatrical release Aug. 9 and went on to exceed industry expectations and gross over $350 million worldwide, becoming one of the year’s biggest commercial hits.

Directed by co-star Justin Baldoni, “It Ends With Us” follows Lily Bloom (Lively) and Ryle Kincaid (Baldoni) as they pursue a romantic relationship. Justin Baldoni and Blake Lively’s movie “It Ends With Us” is based on Colleen Hoover’s 2016 novel by the same name, which the author has said is based on her mother’s marriage.

The movie is the first cinematic adaptation of any of Hoover’s books.

Baldoni optioned the movie through his company Wayfarer Studios in 2019, but he told TheWrap that he always knew he wouldn’t be able to make the film alone. “No matter how much research, or how many women I talk to, or how much I try to empathize or even get into the mind and heart of my wife, I’ll never be able to understand what that experience is like. I knew that going in,” he explained.

Before this mother of all beach reads even hits the screen there is massive want-to-see for female audiences, urged on by the power of BookTok where the author is known as CoHo and her followers are her cohort. Her website overflows with merch, from signed books to heart necklaces and pendants embossed with romance novel tropes “enemies to lovers” or “small town romance” or “main character energy.”

When the phrase came into vogue, in the 1960s, soap operas were what housewives watched on network television in the afternoon (I’d watch my mother get absorbed into them). One of the many ways that they were unfairly sneered at is that the culture gave no credibility to the fact that soap operas were a serial form, which allowed them to slip into the nuances of a dramatic situation. Sure, they featured broad acting and a certain mannequin-model handsomeness and beauty, yet they gripped people — mostly women — because there was something vital and alive in them.

American Rust is cancelled after 2 seasons by Prime Video, Season 2 concludes with a cliffhanger, leaving the fate of characters, including Del, unknown. Cast members have moved on, as Maura Tierney joins Law & Order, while Jeff Daniels recently starred in a Netflix miniseries.

American Rust has been cancelled once again after having been rescued by Prime Video for season 2. Created by Dan Futterman, and based on Philipp Meyers debut novel of the same name, the adaptation takes place in a small town. It follows the chief of police Del Harris as he takes on an investigation that finds the son of the woman he loves accused of murder. The American Rust cast includes Jeff Daniels, Maura Tierney, David Alvarez, Alex Neustaedter, Julie Mayorga, Mark Pellegrino, Rob Yang, and Kyle Beltran.

Now, Deadline confirms that Prime Video will not be moving forward with American Rust season 3, as the crime drama has been cancelled after two seasons.

Amazon Prime Video has opted not to move forward with a third season of the series, Variety has confirmed. Amazon had picked up a second season of the series after it was canceled at its original network home, Showtime, in January 2022. It was originally slated to air on Freevee before it was shifted to Prime Video. All 10 episodes of the second season dropped on March 28.

The first season of the show was based on the Philipp Meyer novel of the same name. Season 2 of “American Rust” was officially titled “American Rust: Broken Justice.” Jeff Daniels led the series along with Maura Tierney, David Alvarez, Alex Neustaedter, Julie Mayorga, Mark Pellegrino, Rob Yang, and Kyle Beltran. Luna Lauren Velez, Marc Menchaca, Nick Sandow, Britian Seibert, Christopher Denham, Amelia Workman, Leon Addison Brown, and Sara Lindsey all joined the show in Season 2.

American Rust has been canceled for a second time. Prime Video has opted not to renew the drama starring Jeff Daniels and Maura Tierney for a third season, Deadline has confirmed. The news comes four months after Season 2, titled American Rust: Broken Justice, premiered on the platform and had a quiet run.

The cancellation was foreshadowed by the recent casting of Tierney as a new series regular on NBC’s Law & Order.

American Rust has a long history. It initially was ordered straight-to-series at USA Network in November 2017, but a few months later, the network opted not to move forward with it. At the time, sources said the order was contingent on the producers finding a big star for the lead, which didn’t happen. American Rust has been cancelled for a second time so there will not be a third season. The drama debuted in September 2021 on Showtime and was cancelled after one season. The show was revived for a second season by Amazon Freevee, but the show ended up moving to Prime Video, and season two was released on March 28th.

A small Rust Belt town plays a significant role in American Rust, but the show itself was all filmed in a bigger city. The crime drama series, created by Dan Futterman, is based on Philipp Meyer's 2009 novel of the same name, which revolves around the decline of the American middle class (and the American Dream) in the early 2000s in a rural town in Pennsylvania. Whereas American Rust undoubtedly shines a light on economic and social problems that several people went through in the late 20th and early 21st century, the show also pulls viewers in with a mystery.

American Rust is returning soon for its second season, aka American Rust: Broken Justice. Prime Video has now released a trailer and several first-look images for the drama, along with details about the cast.

Starring Jeff Daniels, Maura Tierney, Bill Camp, David Alvarez, Alex Neustaedter, Julia Mayorga, Mark Pellegrino, and Rob Yang, the series is based on the novel by Philipp Meyers. The story follows Del Harris (Daniels) as he has his morals tested when the son of the woman he loves is accused of murder. After the sudden, mysterious death of a former police officer in Pennsylvania’s rust belt in the rookie season is not quite solved by Harris, to say the least, the second-season trailer for American Rust: Broken Justice returns to the fictional town of Buell, where a compromised Del and Grace Poe (Maura Tierney) try to rebuild their lives.

That’s until the trailer reveals a series of unrelated murders that may add up to a much larger conspiracy closing in on a tight-knit town. “We never really do move on, do we?” Del questions at one point.

The fateful wrench from the first-season finale cover-up surfaces, as does Del fretting over how to protect the murder suspect and son of his sometimes girlfriend Grace.

We’d understand if you were a bit rusty on what’s going on with American Rust. After all, the drama starring Maura Tierney and Jeff Daniels hasn’t aired since 2021.

But good news: American Rust now has a Season 2 release date: Thursday, March 28, TVLine has learned. Where will it air? That’s a little more complicated.
