[edit]Inherited from Proto-Slavic *tъščь, from Proto-Balto-Slavic *tuskjas, from Proto-Indo-European *tus-sḱ-yós, from *tews- (“to empty”), from *tew- (“to swell”).
Cognate with Polish czczy, Lithuanian tùščias, Latvian tukšs, Vedic Sanskrit तुच्छ्य (tucchyá), Persian تهی (tohi).
