Etymology
[edit]From Seneca Ohi:yoʼ, a proper name derived from ohi:yo:h (“good river”).[1] The name of the Allegheny river, which the Lenape and Iroquois considered to be part of the same single river as the Ohio, means the same thing in Unami.[2]
